Startup Product Roadmap — Flowgrid
Product: Flowgrid (a workflow automation tool for small operations teams) Owner: Priya Desai, Head of Product Last updated: 2 June 2026 Review cadence: every 2 weeks
1. Vision
Flowgrid lets a small operations team automate repetitive multi-step processes without writing code, so a five-person team can run like a fifty-person one. Our north star is the number of workflows that run successfully each week.
2. Goals this cycle
- Activation — grow teams that build their first working automation from 35% to 60% of sign-ups.
- Retention — improve week-4 retention from 22% to 35%.
- Revenue — convert our first 5 teams from free to a paid plan.
3. Roadmap (Now / Next / Later)
| Horizon | Theme | Goal it serves | Expected outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Now | Reduce time-to-first-automation | Activation | New users build a live workflow in under 10 minutes |
| Now | Reliable execution & error visibility | Retention | Failed steps are clearly surfaced and retryable |
| Next | Pre-built templates for common processes | Activation | Users start from a template instead of a blank canvas |
| Next | Team plan billing & seats | Revenue | Teams can upgrade and add seats self-serve |
| Later | Deeper third-party integrations | Retention | Connect to the tools teams already live in |
| Later | Approval & branching logic | Revenue | Support more complex, higher-value workflows |
4. Key milestones
- Guided onboarding live for all new sign-ups — proves the activation theme is shipping.
- First paying team on the new billing flow — proves the revenue path works end to end.
- 1,000 workflows run successfully in a single week — our north-star momentum signal.
5. Dependencies & risks
| Item | Type | Impact if it slips | Mitigation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Billing provider integration | External | Blocks the revenue theme | Spiked early; fallback to manual invoicing for first teams |
| Second backend engineer hire | Hire | Slows execution-reliability work | Recruiting now; scope Now items to current capacity |
| Rate limits on a key integration API | Tech | Limits the integrations theme | Caching layer planned; raised partner tier request |
6. What we are NOT doing
- A mobile app — our users build and monitor workflows from a desk; not worth the cost before product-market fit.
- A public API for third-party developers — valuable later, but it would pull focus from activation and retention this cycle.
- Custom enterprise SSO — no demand from our current segment; revisit when we move upmarket.
