Business Name: Apex Plumbing Solutions Date: 1 January 2024 Version: 2.0
1. Purpose and Scope
This document sets out the standards of behaviour and conduct required of all workers at Apex Plumbing Solutions. We are committed to a safe, respectful, and productive workplace.
This policy applies to everyone working for us, including employees, contractors, apprentices, and management. By working here, you agree to follow these standards.
2. Legal Obligations
We comply with all Australian workplace laws. This includes the Fair Work Act 2009, Work Health and Safety Act, and anti-discrimination laws. You must follow these laws at all times. Breaking these laws is also a breach of this policy.
3. Professional Behaviour and Integrity
- Punctuality: You must arrive at the depot by 7:00 AM sharp. If you are running late due to traffic, you must text the Site Foreman by 6:45 AM.
- Honesty: You must be honest in your work. Stealing copper pipes or tools from the site is grounds for immediate dismissal.
- Dress Code: You must wear your high-vis Apex Plumbing shirt, long trousers, and steel-capped boots at all times.
- Substance Use: You must not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while at work or in company vehicles.
4. Respect and Inclusion
We treat everyone with dignity and respect.
- Zero Tolerance: We have zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, discrimination, or victimisation.
- Behaviour: Do not make offensive comments, jokes, or gestures. Do not engage in 'hazing' of new apprentices.
- Reporting: If you witness or experience this behaviour, you must report it to the Business Manager.
5. Health and Safety
Safety is our priority.
- Compliance: You must complete the Take 5 safety card before starting any job.
- Responsibility: If you see a live electrical wire that looks unsafe, do not touch it. Cordon it off and report it to the Site Foreman.
- Equipment: You must not use the company ute for personal trips other than driving to and from the depot.
6. Communication and IT Use
- Respectful Communication: You must speak politely to clients, even if they are angry. Do not swear in front of clients.
- Phone Use: Do not scroll through social media while on the clock.
- Social Media: Do not post photos of inside a client's house on Facebook. Do not badmouth the boss on Instagram.
7. Conflicts of Interest
You must avoid situations where your personal interests interfere with your job. If your cousin runs a hardware store and you want us to buy from them, you must tell the manager.
8. Breaches and Discipline
If you breach this Code of Conduct, we will take action. The action depends on how serious the breach is. It may include verbal warnings, written warnings, or dismissal for serious misconduct.
