Notes

In this example, the Ford Ranger Ute has 10% private use. Therefore, only 90% of the cost and depreciation can be claimed as a business deduction. The Diminishing Value method is used to maximise early deductions on the expensive vehicle. The laptop has an effective life of 3 years. The Opening Adjustable Value is the written down value at the start of the year. The Decline in Value is calculated based on the ATO statutory rates.
