Salon Hygiene Checklist

1. General Work Area
- Floors swept and mopped free of hair and debris.
- All surfaces (counters, chairs, handles) wiped with hospital grade disinfectant.
- Bins emptied and liners replaced.
- Towels and linens stored in clean, dry cupboard.
2. Tool Sterilisation
- All reusable tools (scissors, clippers, nippers) cleaned of visible debris.
- Tools sterilised in autoclave or chemical sterilant.
- Sterilisation cycle recorded and logged. (Batch #452)
- Sterile packs checked for integrity and expiry date.
3. Single Use Items
- Single use items (gloves, cotton buds, wipes) discarded after every client.
- Sharps disposed of in approved sharps container.
- Sharps container not overfilled (below fill line).
4. Personal Hygiene
- Staff washed hands with soap and water for 15 seconds before client.
- Clean uniforms worn.
- Open cuts or wounds covered with waterproof dressing.
- Jewellery removed or covered during procedures.
5. Client Amenities
- Client washbasins cleaned and disinfected.
- Mirrors wiped clean.
- Magazines wiped down or removed if damaged.
- Toilet and bathroom facilities cleaned and stocked with soap and paper towels.
6. Laundry
- Dirty linen placed in designated hamper (not on floor).
- Laundry washed at minimum 60 degrees Celsius.
- Clean linen stored separately from dirty linen.
